The house is located inside Belas Clube de Campo, a private condominium on the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal. The urbanization layout was conceived so that the villas's plots surrounded the 18 hole golf course, 72 par, designed by the Architect William “Rocky” Roquemore. The configuration of the plot, proportion, dimensions and topography allowed to maximize the exterior space around the interior common areas. The condominium's slogan is: Living in the countryside near the city, so it was only natural to incorporate this idea into the villa's concept. The project extends throughout three floors; the first floor comprehends garage, maid room, laundry room and technical area; the second floor comprehends the office, living room, kitchen and bedrooms; the last floor is entirely occupied with the master bedroom.

The street is on a lower level as in comparison to the main floor. This topological feature allowed the installation of the garage floor at the same level as the street and permitted the extension of the garden on its roof. Creating the garden to the limit of the plot on the garage's roof, made possible the sensation of green continuity in between plots. The tension criated between the house and garden is obtained through the creation of balconies that are intentionally higher than needed. The same tension was created between the house and the sky through the thick solar shades. The vegetation that occupies the extensive gardened areas are mainly autochthonous not only by integration reasons but also for water consumption reduction. Here the swimming pool assumes the same character has the balconies, well above the garden level, in a granite plinth, that seperates the grass from the “shrubby” area. The proposed disposition of the swimming pool was achieved through the confrontation of different aspects, such as dominant winds, solar exposure and privacy on its use. A small construction nearby allocates the barbecue and the technical area for the swimming pool equipment.

All the interior space was designed and constructed with high quality and luxury finishings as a goal, but always with a concern that this could not be ostentatious – it had to be simple and effective. The promoter's proposal was to construct a house to the real state market, medium high segment class. It could not be personalized since there wasn't a specific client nor could it be vulgar and then divoided of soul. Since the interior spaces were quite generous in area, we chose a dark noble wood for the floor, Wengue; humid spaces have natural stone covering floor and walls, Brown Cohiba Granite, Brown Florest, Travertine and Creme Marfil as marbles. Almost all carpentry is lacquered white matt creating an elegant contrast with the natural materials. Doors have full height, from floor to ceiling, accentuating the character of the generous interior spaces and thus accentuating the natural space flow. The facade's generous glazing promotes a more natural integration of the exterior spaces into the interior of the villa. Relating this last aspect we intentionally conceived “some glazed” axis to allow views to surpass the house creating a transparency we found important, given the house and garden dimensions.
