We’d all love to live in a lavish home with a king-sized bed in our opulent bedroom, however, for most of us the size of our home is limited by financial realities.
Don’t fret, you can sleep easy – in your smaller bedroom – safe in the knowledge that having a smaller bedroom doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. To prove this, we’ve put together a list of small and stylish bedrooms that can be copied easily; hopefully enabling you to make the most of your petite boudoir.
Number one on our list is a brilliant black and white little bedroom by Better Interiors of Hamburg, Germany. The contrasting black and white colour scheme throughout creates a big impact for such a little room, and looks great with the dark wooden flooring! The elevated bed is a superb way to get more out of the available space, as it creates more storage underneath.
Here, the predominantly white colour scheme makes the room feel more spacious, while wall mounted shelving increases storage space. The TV – just out of sight here – is also wall mounted in front of the bed to free-up as much space as possible.
This quirky yet ingenious solution is one for those with no bedroom at all! This modular installation by architects IR Arcquitectura can create a fantastic little bedroom nook in any available space.
Stepping things up now with number four on our list – the mezzanine bed. This brilliant space saving solution will double the size of your small bedroom, and it looks pretty cool too!
As with the first entry to our list, the black and white colour scheme here really adds character to the room. The lighter walls and carpet increase the feeling of space, but the real space-saver here is the single bed. We’d all prefer a larger bed, but sometimes it’s worth asking, is it worth it?
Number six uses symmetry, and the rich colour of the wooden shelves and bed, to great dramatic effect. The shelving built into the wall helps to resolve space issues by providing storage.
This brilliantly white bedroom utilises under-bed storage to free up space, and its simplicity makes it very easy to recreate.
Finally, number eight on our list uses an abundance of shelving for maximum storage in minimum space. The part bedroom, part library effect it creates can provide your small bedroom with an air of sophistication.
