This home was constructed in 2015 and is located in Pedregal Schoenstatt, Queretaro, a condominium complex just outside of Mexico.

The project commission called for a house with optimised commercial spaces and a minimal design with clear lines, solid volumes, and thoughtful material selections.

The result is a 122 square meter home built on an 114 square meter plot. It comprises a living room, kitchen, bathroom, patio and a terrace and garden on the ground floor. Upstairs there are two twin bedrooms with a shared bathroom and a master bedroom with its own bathroom and dressing room.

Now, let's take a closer look…

The exterior

The exterior is simple, but not without thought. The composition is rational and pleasing to the eye. Clean lines abound and the solid boxy volume is broken up by the small recess and the change in materials. The brick insert is somewhat unexpected in the monochromatic facade, but delightful.

It is, again, picked up in the landscaping – the warm earthy tones of the brick blend with the dirt infill. The landscaping at the front of the house is given the same attention to detail and consideration as the house itself!

The kitchen

The interior takes a similar approach: minimal, rational, and crisp. The monochromatic colour palette is continued and warm woody accents punctuate the spaces.

The bathroom

The bathroom, too: minimal and thoughtfully composed. The same material and colour palette weaves through the home creating a common thread. The shower is one of the most delightful details in this space – the white half height walls allow the glass inserts to slide into the negative recesses seamlessly and beautifully.

Storage

This storage unit is another example of the incredible finesse and attention to detail that is characteristic throughout the design. The timber boxed inserts break up the sheer white mass. The mitred corners are on point, as are the tiny negative details. It's pretty difficult to fault.

By night…

Now before we say adieu, let's get one more shot of that brilliant facade, this time in a different light! Stunningly simple – night and day!
