The first impression is often the best one, the same applies to matters on the home front. Regardless of the space available to you, the home entrance takes precedence over all else. Guests that walk through your front door should walk out with an imprint of the experience that your home has to offer. The key is to entice guests and welcome them in a manner that they would not want to forget.

Here are 12 designer ways that do just that!

1. An artistic entrance

Showcase your plants, art paintings or pottery collections at the entrance to show your guests your special areas of interest. Be sure that your main door design complements the entrance.

2. A traditional entrance

A simplistic traditional style could be all that your home entrance is in need of. A wooden door design with paintings as accompaniment and lights to finish off could just do the trick for you.

3. A lobby at the entrance

Having a seating arrangement at the entrance makes it easier for your guests and family members to deal with matters pertaining to footwear. Typically all wooden door designs work well with a lobby area, so be sure to include one in your home.

4. A mirror at the entrance

A front door design that opens up to a mirror makes the area look larger. This is of particular importance if space is a constraint. Also, having a mirror as part of the main door design allows for any last minute make-up and hair checks!

5. A well defined entrance

If your main door opens into a vast expanse of space, then you can create a dedicated area with cabinets, screens, bookshelves or sliding doors. Open shelves housing pictures, photos, and accessories also add on to the beauty of your main door design

6. An entrance with potted plants

Potted plants, orchids or any other flowering plant that can be placed at the entrance of your home. You could also use cactus as a welcoming plant as the vibrant colors and forms that they come in add to the front door design.

7. A rug at the entrance

An entrance would be incomplete without a rug. If you've opted for single hued furniture, then a bright bold rug could make for the perfect contrast. The addition of lighting to the area is simply the icing on the cake.

8. A calm and serene entrance

Make sure that your front door lures guests to come in and relax. Put them at ease by creating an environment that makes them feel at home. A wooden bench or a shelf to store keys could be one such option, or perhaps a row of hooks on the wall to hang coats, shawls, hats and so on.

9. A narrow entrance

If your house has a narrow entrance then make use of wall mounted paintings in striking colors. A bench up front in a vibrant shade can be quite the trick to make the area look larger than it actually is.

10. A color statement for the entrance

Bold colors make quite the statement, though lighter shades make for a more appealing entrance. This makes it easier to find the appropriate decor for your home.

11. Utility at the entrance

Utility is of the essence in any home, and one of the best places to incorporate the same is at the entrance. Ensure that your wooden door design is matched with a wooden cabinet that houses keys, and frequently used items.

12. A table at the entrance

Tables ranging in different shapes and sizes can make their way to the entrance of your home. The entry is always a great place to showcase antique tables that are solely an item of decor.
